Big Bass Boat

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Boat surprised us. It looked like a simple time-filler, but there's a gentle rhythm to steering your boat between spots, waiting for the right moment, and tapping to cast. The controls are a single thumb affair, and after ten minutes they feel completely natural.

The game leans into calm rather than tension. Water ripples, the boat bobs, and each catch gives you a little upgrade to your gear so you can reach deeper areas. We liked how it never nags you or throws timers in your face. You play at your own pace, and the progression map slowly opens up as you explore new stretches of the lake.

It won't grip you like a hardcore strategy game, but as a wind-down title it's genuinely pleasant. We came back to it between heavier reviews just to relax, which says something.
